Donald Scanga

Digital Historian

After retiring from a fifty-year business career encompassing both the Information Technology and Insurance industries, Don passionately pursues his love of history by devoting himself to becoming a self-published Digital Historian with an emphasis on Military History.

Along the way, he hopes his endeavor pays tribute and honors all the military men and women who have served and sacrificed so much for our country,

both in times of war and in times of peace.

"Don's historical knowledge and experience in the US Army Air Defense Artillery has allowed him to write a book full of personal experiences, defense strategy, and technical details. Gripping to any reader with an interest in military history."

Kent Micho - Retired Information Technology Professional

Praise & Reviews

"Easy to read with extensive use of interesting photos, diagrams, history, and organization structure of the ADA and current missile systems.  After reading it I had a much better understanding of the ADA."

Mike Fellows - West Point Graduate, Vietnam Veteran & Retired Colonel, United States Army

"Don examines the history of American air defenses from WWI to the present and reflects on his personal experience as a member of a HAWK battery in Key West in the 1970s. Don’s firsthand insights into the HAWK system sheds an important light on these young men and weapon systems they crewed to protect our country during one of the most dangerous parts of the Cold War."

David Dean Barrett - Historian, Published Author, Researcher
